OFFICE COORDINATOR
Corporate Accountability Lab (CAL) is looking for a person-of-all-trades, ready to take on a variety of tasks and support CAL’s human rights attorneys as we fight corporate power and build sustainable solutions alongside our partners across the globe. Our ideal candidate has a passion for human rights and corporate accountability, but also a knack for spreadsheets and tech. They like to get things done, and manage their own time and work flows. The Office Coordinator’s scope of work includes finance, IT, human resources, office management and communications. They make CAL a welcoming and inclusive space and ensure the policies and procedures of the organization are implemented in a fair and consistent manner.
LOCATION: Chicago, IL (3 days per week in office, 2 days virtual)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Budgets & Finance
Carry out financial aspects of the organization, including the processing of payables, receivables, credit card payments, reviewing expense reports and providing reimbursements;
Produce quarterly financial reports to the Executive Director and Board finance committee;
Keep meticulous financial records to remain in fiscal and legal compliance;
Ensure timely payment of the organization’s bills, including rent, utilities and invoices;
Support the annual, independent financial audit, oversee the U.S. 990 tax form filing, and otherwise support the work of the outside accountant;
Liaise with the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee;
Monitor the organization’s bank accounts in regards to cash flow and reallocation of operating funds as needed;
Run monthly payroll;
Providing support on individual donor development tasks;
Ensure compliance of existing and new grants and contracts.
Human Resources & Office Administration
Participate in human resources functions including benefits management, expense management, and other HR tasks as needed;
Provide support with staff and intern hiring and orientation;
Purchase office equipment and supplies, including regular office items (paper, pens, notebooks, printer supplies, water, snacks, etc.), computers, software, and furniture;
Troubleshoot IT issues, including maintaining functional internet, phones, and online file storage;
Regularly update the organization’s website (hosted by squarespace);
Solve problems and take on new projects to improve the administration of the office;
Promote a culture of wellness across the organization by ensuring staff are taking sufficient PTO, managing a religiously-inclusive holiday calendar, and initiating periodic wellness activities;
Monitor compliance with the CAL handbook, implement handbook revisions when requested, and identify necessary handbook revisions to propose to the staff and board;
Other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director and Staff Attorneys.
SALARY & BENEFITS
$40,000 - $50,000 salary based on experience
CAL covers 80% of the cost of health, dental, and vision insurance for staff and dependents, as well as the full cost of a life insurance policy, plus a 3% non-elective annual IRA contribution.
CAL actively encourages work-life balance through flexible working hours, unlimited paid time off (a minimum fourteen days vacation is required annually), and a child and pet-friendly office.
We offer 3 months of paid family leave, and a 3 month paid sabbatical after 5 years.
The office is closed for thirteen holidays, as well as the last week of the year. Additionally, staff are encouraged to take off for observed religious holidays.
